Etsy fees by country in 2026: what sellers outside the US actually pay
Two sellers can list the same item at the same price and keep different amounts of money. The difference is decided by the country their bank account sits in — and in June 2026 that gap got wider.
What is the same everywhere
Three parts of the fee stack do not care where you are:
- Listing fee — USD 0.20 per item. Charged when you list, again every four months on auto-renew, and again each time a copy sells. Outside the dollar zone it is converted, so the amount in your currency drifts with the exchange rate.
- Transaction fee — 6.5% of the whole order total, including the shipping and gift wrap you charge the buyer.
- Offsite Ads — 15%, or 12% once your shop passes 10,000 in annual sales, capped at 100 per order.
What changes: payment processing
This is the big one. Payment processing is a percentage plus a fixed amount per order, and the rate is set by the country your bank account is registered in — not by where your buyer lives. US sellers pay noticeably less than European ones.
What changes: the regulatory operating fee
Sellers in a handful of countries pay an extra percentage of the order total that exists to cover local digital services taxes and regulatory costs. Most sellers never think about it because it is small — and then it moves.
On 22 June 2026 Etsy revised these rates across multiple markets. Three of the four European marketplaces most Etsy sellers use went up, and France more than doubled:

Germany, the United States, Canada and Australia do not pay a regulatory operating fee at all.

What the gap costs on a real order
Take the same order everywhere — an item at 25, shipping charged at 5, so the buyer pays 30 in local currency — and compare only the Etsy fees:

Roughly two percentage points separate a US seller from a French one on an identical order. On a shop turning over 30,000 a year, that is about 660 — real money, and entirely invisible unless you go looking for it.
What to actually do about it
- Price for your own stack, not an American blog post's. Most Etsy pricing advice online is written from a US fee base. If you sell from France or Spain, advice calibrated to 11% take will leave you short.
- Re-check after every fee revision. The June 2026 change added roughly 0.67 points of cost to every French order overnight. Nobody sends you an invoice for the difference; it just quietly appears in your Payment account.
- Watch the fixed component on small orders. A €0.30 processing charge is 0.6% of a €50 order and 6% of a €5 one. Low-price listings are hit far harder by the flat fees than by the percentages.
- Verify against your own account. Rates here follow Etsy's published schedule, but seller circumstances differ. The calculator's fee panel is editable for exactly this reason.
The one that is not on any table
If you take payment in a currency other than your bank account's, Etsy applies a currency conversion charge on top of everything above. Sellers who list in USD to reach American buyers but bank in euros pay it on every order, and it does not appear in any fee comparison — including this one. If that is you, check your Payment account for the conversion line and treat it as part of the stack.
