Privacy Policy
The short version: the calculator runs in your browser, the figures you type never reach us, and we do not ask you for a name, an email address, or an account.
Who we are
The Maker Ledger (themakerledger.com) publishes a free fee and profit calculator for Etsy sellers. You can reach us at [email protected].
What we do not collect
Every number you enter into the calculator — prices, costs, postage, margins — is processed by JavaScript running on your own device. None of it is sent to a server, because the site has no application server and no database. We cannot see your figures, and we could not retrieve them if we wanted to.
We do not ask you to register, we do not run a mailing list, and we do not sell, rent, or share personal data with anyone.
Local storage on your device
So the page remembers your last set of figures, your marketplace, and your language, we store them in your browser's local storage. This is not a cookie and it is never transmitted. It stays on your device until you clear your browser data. If your browser blocks storage, the calculator still works — it simply starts fresh each visit.
Advertising
This site does not currently show advertising and sets no advertising cookies. If that changes, this section will describe exactly which advertising partner is used and what it collects, and visitors in the EEA and the UK will be asked for their consent before any advertising cookie is set.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookies, stores no device identifier, and does not follow you across websites, and it reports aggregate figures such as how many people opened a page and roughly where in the world they were. There is no way for us to identify you from it, which is why it needs no consent banner.
Hosting and server logs
The site is served as static files by our hosting provider, which — like every web host — processes standard request data such as your IP address, the page requested, your browser's user-agent string, and the time of the request. This is used to deliver the page and to protect the service from abuse. We do not use these logs to build a profile of you.
External links
Some pages link to Etsy's own fee documentation and other outside sites. Once you follow such a link you are on someone else's site, under their privacy policy, not ours.
Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection over personal data held about you. Because we hold no accounts and no submitted figures, there is usually nothing for us to retrieve or delete — the data that exists about your visit sits in your own browser, where you can clear it yourself at any time, and in our host's short-lived request logs.
If advertising is enabled on this site, you can change or withdraw your advertising consent at any time through the consent control that appears on the page, and you can manage Google's ad personalisation directly at myadcenter.google.com.
To exercise any right, or to complain, email [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
Children
This site is a business tool for people who sell things. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version appears on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will be noted in the summary line.
